Retro House Mixtape – Episode 42

Paul @ Retro House Mixtape — Sat, 27 Apr 2019 08:41:02 +0000

It’s a funky DJ set this week on Retro House Mixtape with a serendipitous link between this episode and last week’s mix. Episode 41 ended with ‘Stand Up’ by Love Tribe, a tune that sampled ‘There But For The Grace of God’ by Machine. This episode begins with a cover version of the very same song by Roach Motel (aka Pete Heller and Terry Farley). It also takes a little lift from ‘Someday’ by Ce Ce Rogers (or ‘Sweet Harmony’ by Liquid depending on your age/tastes).

Favourites of mine from this mix include a Masters At Work remix of D’Influence, Harry Romero’s dub version of ‘Just Can’t Get Enough’ and the Rhythm Masters dropping a high octane take on Armand Van Helden’s Witch Doktor.

Fire Island – There But For The Grave Of God (Roach Motel Mix)
Don Carlos Feat. Taka Boom – Music Of The Mind [Original Mix]
Warren Clarke Feat. Kathy Brown – Over You (Main Mix)
Ron Hall & The MuthaFunkaz feat Marc Evans – The Way You Love Me (Sergio Flores Vocal Dub)
B-Crew – Partay Feeling (More’s Instradub Mix)
Dirk Diggler – Nobody Else
D’Influence – Hypnotize (M.A.W. 12_ Mix)
Jose Nunez Feat. Octahvia – Hold On (Jazz-N-Groove Nu Disco Mix)
Harry ”Choo Choo” Romero presents Inaya Day – Just Can’t Get Enough (Choo Choo’s Sub Dub)
Rosie Gaines – I Want U (Booker T Mix)
Ce Ce Peniston – Somebody Else’s Guy (TJ Ladies Choice Dub)
Armand Van Helden – Witch Doktor (Rhythm Masters Club Mix)
Sucker Dj’s – For Love (Lost Daze Remix)

Retro House Mixtape – Episode 40

Paul @ Retro House Mixtape — Mon, 15 Apr 2019 08:02:57 +0000

Dropping some strong vocal tunes in this week’s episode of Retro House Mixtape starting off with ‘Sandman’, the classy follow-up to the 90’s favourite ‘Remember Me’ by Blueboy. After that there is a BIG ‘Keep On Jumpin’ remix from the Rhythm Masters, not their all-time classic dub mix but a just as good vocal remix. Also worthy of a listen is the classic C&C remix of ‘Message of Love’ by Lovehappy.

Things get a little deeper in the second half with a great remix of ‘Garbage’ by Roger Sanchez before dropping into a funky re-work of ‘Rocking Music’ from Martin Solveig.

The Blueboy – Sandman (Original 12inch)
First Choice – Armed and Extremely Dangerous (Full Intention Vocal)
Roach Motel – Afro Sleeze (Downtown Mix)
Todd Terry feat Martha Wash & Jocelyn Brown – Keep On Jumpin’ (Rhythm Masters Vocal Mix)
Lovehappy – Message Of Love (Cliville and Cole Club Anthem Mix)
Full Intention presents Shena – I’ll Be Waiting (Ski Oakenfull Remix)
Quentin Harris – My Joy (feat. Margaret Grace)
Fleepass – I Love My Flee (Loris Conte Remix)
Garbage – Cherry Lips (Go Baby Go) (Roger Sanchez Tha S-Man’s Release Mix)
Supercar – Tonight (Constipated Monkeys Black Fable Mix)
Rhythm Masters – Get Up, Jump Up (Original Club Mix)
Martin Solveig – Rocking Music (Warren Clarke Club Mix)
