Retro House Mixtape – Episode 35

Paul @ Retro House Mixtape — Sat, 09 Mar 2019 09:04:50 +0000

Being a big fan of The Prodigy I figured there’s only one way to start the show this week. I had to play a tune for Keith Flint who sadly passed away. I decided to go for something from The Prodigy that was a bit less well known but very Keith-centric. Hope you like it. If you’re after a heftier Prodigy fix, do check out the The Prodigy Session Mixtape that I did at the end of 2018.

From The Prodigy it’s then an organic slide into a remix of ‘Root Down’ by The Beastie Boys, a tune that was sampled by The Prodigy in their track ‘Funky Shit. After that it’s a mish-mash of disco-led house tracks and some deeper moments mixed with some improvised accapella drops here and there.

Tracklisting:

The Prodigy – Razor
Beastie Boys – Root Down (Cyclist Disco DJ Mix)
Johnick – Play the World
Boris D’lugosch – Hold Your Head Up High (Acapella)
Janet Jackson – I Get So Lonely (Jengi x More Beats Club Edit)
Norty Cotto & United Funk Pilots – Everybody C’mon
Ralphi Rosario – Brinca (The Definitive Vocal Mix)
Green Velvet – Flash (Brodyr Edit)
Funky Green Dogs – Fired Up (Angel’s DDDDeep Vocal Mix)
Armand Van Helden (feat. Old Skool Junkies) – The Funk Phenomena
DJ Kwest –Street Bomb (Doubleunderground Mix)
Tom Novy feat Lima – Now Or Never (Club Mix Instrumental)
Ruffneck feat. Yavahn – Everybody Be Somebody (Acapella)
United Funk Pilots – Get Higher
TJR feat Xavier – Just Gets Better (TJR Dub)
Dizzee Rascal – Flex (Dave Spoon Reflex)
