Out of the blue with a Trance-based episode.

Listen on Mixcloud

Way back in 2021 I did a one-off Trance episode of Retro House Mixtape, imaginatively called “Retro Trance Mixtape”. Surprisingly it was a very popular episode, pulling in really good numbers alongside all the normal house music episodes.

Since bringing the show back online earlier this year I’d been thinking about doing a follow up Trance episode. By complete coincidence I’ve ended up doing one on what is essentially the 5-year anniversary of the previous Retro Trance Mixtape. What are the odds?

Here we have got ten absolute barnstorming Trance tracks over 60 minutes. My stand-out favourite is the Akira Kayosa remix of System F’s “Out Of The Blue”. A pure euphoria rush of a track.

Tracklisting:

1. Nu NRG – Free Fall (Original)
2. Oxygen feat. Andrea Britton – Am I on Your Mind (Oxygen 12″)
3. O.R.G.A.N. – To the World (Lifting Club Experience)
4. Tekara – Breathe In You (Tekara M&M Dub)
5. Ascension – Someone (Space Brother’s dub)
6. Liquid Child – Diving Faces
7. V-One – Dead Cities
8. System F – Out Of The Blue 2010 (Akira Kayosa Remix)
9. Tin Tin Out – TWM (JamX & DeLeon Remix)
10. Lochi – London Acid City (Jon The Dentist Remix)

Blimey! Last week’s episode was a bit of a barnstormer wasn’t it? Huge thanks to everybody who checked it out, shared it and commented on it. I hope you like this week’s house music mix just as much.

Fun fact: The opening track, ‘Montana’ by Way Out West, was amongst the first records that I practised mixing with when I bought my first set of turntables way back in 1994.

Fun fact #2: The questionably titled ‘Wankers On Duty’ is actually ‘Da Hool’ of ‘Meet Her At The Love Parade’ fame.

Tracklist:

1. Way Out West – Montana (Sub-Bass Trance Mix)
2. Matter – Don’t You Want Some More (Dillon and Dickens Boo T3 Mix)
3. Rhyme Time Productions – You And Me (Hard Mix)
4. House of Virginism – I’ll Be There For You (Doya Dododo Doya) [Stone’s Glamarama Club Mix]
5. Olive – You’re Not Alone (Matthew Roberts Cloud 10 Remix)
6. The Wildchild Experience – Bring It Down (The Big Bird Cage Remix)
7. 187 Lockdown – Southside (C-Ken Remix)
8. Desire – When I Lose Control (Ramon Zenker Remix)
9. Poppers presents Aura – Every Little Time (Baby Blue Mix)
10. Funky Chaod feat Nick Skitz – The Ultimate (Tall Paul Bassline Remix)
11. Wankers On Duty – Hands Up (Wankers Mix)
12. Mother’s Pride – Floribunda (Big C Remix)

Episode 15 is the first new mix to appear on the new website! It starts off on a funky vibe with a little side serving of David Bowie and a mini drop into some hip-hop. There is also an appearance from the legendary Joey Negro plus one of my favourite tunes from Pizzaman (aka Fatboy Slim). By the end though we are largely into ‘thumping house’ territory with the rave tinged ‘Invader’ finishing things off.

I might need to cool things down again next week!

Tracklist:

1. Mr Jack – Wiggly World (Cool Dub)
2. David Bowie – Let’s Dance (Acapella)
3. Greed – Pump Up The Volume (Clubaround Sound Mix)
4. Pizzaman – Sex On The Streets
5. Z Factor – Ride The Rhythm (Joey Negro Mix)
6. Mutiny – Secrets (Ian Wilkie’s C-Bit Dub)
7. Morillo ft. Audio Bullys – Break Down The Doors
8. Cool Jack – Jus’ Come (Sharp Blasted Dub)
9. Hysteric Ego – Ministry Of Love (Tall Paul’s ‘Blowout’ Mix)
10. Happy Clappers – I Believe (Sharp Blasted Dub)
11. Convert – Nightbird (Tin Tin Out Remix)
12. Dirty Barry – Baby Maniac
13. The Experts – Motor
14. Koolworld Productions – Invader (Tall Paul Mix)

It’s the weekend!! Time for another sixty minute slice of forgotten house music classics picked from the nooks and crannies of my record collection. It really does run the gamut this week; from the “disco to disco” vibes of Whirlpool Productions, to the tech based ‘Loops of Life’ by Acme through to the late 90’s hard house stylings of Baby Blue (a.k.a. Tin Tin Out). Topping it all off is ‘Open Your Mind’, a little anthem from Usura. (I also manage to give out the wrong web address at the end of the show, doh!)

Tracklist:

1. Whirlpool Productions – From Disco to Disco
2. Mighty Dub Katz – Ghetto Girl
3. Wildchild – Renegade Master (Scott Forshaw & Greg Stainer Remix)
4. BB Club – Play This House (Original Hard House Mix)
5. Acme – Loops of Life
6. Love Tribe – Stand Up (Alcatraz Robs The Bank)
7. The Beloved – Satellite (Freedom Vocal)
8. Pianoheadz – It’s Over (Distortion) (It’s Over Mix)
9. Jack 200 – Jack 200
10. Funk Junkeez – Got Funk (Heavy On Da Bass Mix)
11. The Invisible Man – Give A Little Love
12. Baby Blue – Child
13. Allium – MOT (Hold Your Pillow)
14. Usura – Open Your Mind
