]]> Frankie Knuckles once said that House Music was Disco’s Revenge. That statement was the basis for this week’s episode. I wanted to record an episode that runs at a slightly lower tempo and works as a warmup mixtape. A set that would fit perfectly for that late afternoon/early evening slot on a sunny day. This episode starts with an old Royksopp/Incognito bootleg that I made in the early 2000’s (I really should make an updated version) before swerving into a full on disco re-edit session. There are some irresistibly funky jams going on in this episode from big players such as Chic, Fatback Band, Chaka Khan and even Queen!!

It really is Disco’s Revenge! I really enjoyed putting this one together. Hope you like it too.

This weeks mixtape starts off with a slower tempo than usual before diving into an uplifting slice of soulful house. As per Episode 1 there is another little exclusive thrown into the mix in the form of a ‘Incognito / Royksopp’ mash-up that works really well in the summer. Going into the final stretch it gets a little anthem-tastic plus there’s a lesser known gem from Fire Island (aka Heller and Farley) where they remix “Don’t Bring Me Down” by Spirits.

As always, don’t forget to follow Retro House Mixtape on Twitter , Facebook and Mixcloud and share this episode with anyone who you think may dig it. The Instagram account is also doing gangbusters considering it’s only just a couple of weeks old. Go check it out!
