Retro House Mixtape

Episode 137 – Let Yourself Go

Paul @ Retro House Mixtape — Fri, 16 Oct 2026 07:00:00 +0000

“Let Yourself Go” with another 60 minute mix of old house music.

These episodes come about in varying ways. Sometimes I know exactly what I’m going to play. At others times I make it up on the spot (like with the previous episode – “That London Sound”). This time it’s a little of both. I had the first four songs picked and then winged it from there. What we end up with is a mix with a split personality. It starts with a vibe that flirts between funky and jacking but at the halfway make we go into progressive and melodic territory.

Tracklisting:

Karen Ramirez – If We Try (Silk’s Disco Anthem)
Kerri Chandler – Downtown
Gettoblaster & Chris Larsen (CA) Ft.DJ Dagwood – Bounce Yo Body
Richard F. – Feel The Rhythm
Lianne La Havas – Elusive
Photon Inc. – Give A little Love (Photon’s Disco House Mix Ramon Tapia Rerub)
Cevin Fisher – House Music (Supernova Remix)
Datar – B (Tarrentella & Redankas’ NYSC Mix)
Mark Knight & Funkagenda – Man With The Red Face (Original Club Mix)
Beltek – Running Backwards
Chuck Roberts/Khrizz Tapia – My House (Khrizz Tapia Bootleg)
Nathan Fake – Outhouse (Valentino Kanzyani Remix)
Way Out West – Montana (Let Yourself Go) (Sub-Bass Trance Mix)

Episode 136 – That London Sound

Paul @ Retro House Mixtape — Fri, 02 Oct 2026 07:00:00 +0000

“That London Sound”, in other words, that late 90’s UK-based four-to-the-floor garage vibe.

Listen on Mixcloud

For this episode I felt like going with a theme, so I dipped into a folder of tunes simply called “That London Sound”. It’s a collection of tracks that takes me back to the late 90’s. Around ’97 when the likes of Jeremy Sylvester (under various guises), RIP and Nu-Birth (again, under various guises) were pumping out garage bangers with synth-based chords, soulful vocals and deep, deep baselines. If you liked the previous ‘Speed Garage’ episodes of the show, you’ll probably like this one too!

Tracklisting:

Da Vibe Project – Jus’ a Feelin’
RIP Productions – Red Hot and Sexy
G.O.D. – Inside Your Mind (Original Mix)
Da Mooch feat Ellis Miah – Send Me Some Love (Marc & Mitch’s Send Me Some Dub)
Johan S. Presents Jazzheads – (Falling Like ) Dominoes (Banana Republic’s Club Vocal)
Amira – My Desire (Club Asylum Classic Vocal Mix)
Danny J Lewis – Spend the Night (H Man Dub)
Miles Fontaine – Keep Giving
GOD Four – A2
Inland Knights – Trapped
Dean Boylan – Bring It Back To Love (Dem 2’s Rubba Soul Dub)
Freak Da Funk – Where Brooklyn At
Nu‐Birth – Anytime (Rhythm Masters mix)

Episode 135 – Move Your Body

Paul @ Retro House Mixtape — Fri, 18 Sep 2026 07:00:00 +0000

Time to Move Your Body with another dose of Retro House Mixtape goodness

Listen on Mixcloud

I didn’t know where to start with this episode so I ended up just closing my eyes and flicking through my selection of tunes. I decided that whatever I landed on was what I would start with. As luck would have it, the fates chose a solid tribal-drum banger from Eric Kupper. What a fantastic place to start! From there it was a steady job of building a set on the fly which is always fun. I managed to work in a few favourites on the way such as “Move Your Body” by Ruffneck and Full Intention’s remake of “You’re The One For Me”.

Episode 134 – Boogie Ryda

Paul @ Retro House Mixtape — Fri, 04 Sep 2026 12:03:11 +0000

“We can ride the Boogie” with the latest episode of Retro House Mixtape.

Listen on Mixcloud

And we’re back with another multi-genre mix of old house music. It was a close shave this one, all very last minute and at the time of recording I didn’t think it was going to be worth sharing. Fortunately a re-listen the following day with fresh ears confirmed that it was another good-to-go mix. Favourites for this episode include “Boogie Ryda” by Grant Nelson and Bart B More’s bootleg edit of Intro by Alan Braxe and Fred Falke which I’ve been meaning to work into an episode for ages.

Also, my social media game has stepped up a notch, Retro House Mixtape is now on TikTok as well as Instagram, Threads and Bluesky. You can now actually see me making an arse of myself online.

Tracklisting:

Glickmix – Need to Lose Control (1300 Miles From Brooklyn Mix)
G.O.D. Four – A1
Grant Nelson – Boogie Ryda (Revisited)
Haji & Emanuel – Weekend (ATFC Dirty Weekend Mix)
Dajaé – Time (King Unique “Unlimited Supply” Mix)
Detroit Swindle – Hey Mister (Extended Mix)
Nelski – Body Pop (Original Mix)
Alex Gaudino featuring Crystal Waters – Destination Calabria (King Unique Remix)
Alan Braxe & Fred Falke – Intro (Bart B More Edit)
Crystal Waters – Gypsy Woman (She’s Homeless) (Acapella)
Sex-O-Sonique – I Thought It Was You (12 Inch Mix)
Fleepass – I Love My Flee (Loris Conte Remix)
Joris Voorn – Incident (Miyagi) (Original Mix)
Future Funk – Wildberry Tracks (Vocal Mix)
Furry Phreaks ft. Terra Deva – All Over the World (Charles Webster vs. Pasta Boys Remix)

Episode 133 – Rhythm is a Mystery

Paul @ Retro House Mixtape — Fri, 21 Aug 2026 07:30:00 +0000

“Rhythm is a Mystery” and choice cuts of house music make up this episode of Retro House Mixtape.

Listen on Mixcloud

I don’t know if you know this… but it has been a bit hot lately. Like, REALLY hot. So hot in fact that I almost couldn’t get this episode recorded. The “studio” where I record these episodes was clocking in at 32 degrees C everyday. There was no way I was going to be able to record a set in that heat. Fortunately I managed to hold on for a cooler window and get this mixtape down. And I’m glad I did because this episode is a STORMER! Some absolutely sublime blends are happening throughout this mix. Things start at the deeper end of house for most of the first half of the mix and then we transition into some more well known tunes towards the end.

Tracklisting:

The Vision (feat. Dames Brown) – Down [Extended Mix]
Dirty Secretz – A Little Bit of Disco (Original Mix)
Detroit Swindle – The Break Up (Original Mix)
Angel Stoxx – Spool (Inkfish Remix)
Gorge – Changin (Original Mix)
Angelo Ferreri – I’m Surprise (Studioheist Remix)
Artful – I’m In Love (feat. Donae’O) (Deep Mix)
Full Intention – Simply Living
DJ Duke – Blow Your Whistle (Panenka Remix)
K-Klass – Rhythm Is A Mystery
Bobby D’Ambrosio, Michelle Weeks – Moment Of My Life (JN Closer To The Source Mix)
Kevin Saunderson Presents Inner City – Big Fun (Full Intention 88 Remix)
Charles J – My Feeling (Original Mix)
